8 days until I leave for Phoenix!

My competition is fast approaching, I'm leaving for Phoenix in just 8 days! Unfortunately, I've come down with a terrible cold and have been in bed for the last few days. I haven't been able to train or do any cardio so I'm hoping things will stay on track. It's certainly not fun to diet while you're sick, all I want is chicken noodle soup and comfort food. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be well enough to get back to training.

My first IFBB Pro Show is 1 month away!

Right now I'm currently in full force competition prep mode for my very first pro show on Feb. 25th! I will be competing in Desert Muscle Classic Pro Show in Meza, AZ which is located just outside Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona. The reason I chose this competition as my first pro show is because I lived in Scottsdale about 3 years ago and made some amazing friends while I was there, so I'll have a great support system. I'm looking forward to catching up with old friends and enjoying a little sunshine while I'm there too! My friend Amanda Silver, who is also a bikini competitor, is letting me stay at her place and my wonderful boyfriend and personal cheerleader, Nathan will be coming with me too, as well as my Dad and Stepmom! I'm so thankful to have such amazing friends and family :)

Unfortunately I don't have an official sponsor yet so I've had to fund everything myself, except for my wonderful friend David Chen (www.myspace.com/7nite) who has kindly sponsored me the funds for a new, custom made bikini! Thank you David!

Nathan is doing my diet and training programs so to him I am eternally grateful. -What kind of boyfriend puts their girlfriend on a diet you say? Mine, and I love it, lol!

4 weeks to go until I rock the stage!

How I became interested in the gym

I started dancing at the age of 3 and became quite competitive with it in my teen years. I took ballet, jazz, musical theater, tap, celtic, hip hop and some modern classes, dancing took up most of my free time. At the age of 16 I decided I wanted to socialize more, as most teenagers do, so I quit dancing entirely. It was around the same time that I briefly dated a guy a little older then me who was completely obsessed with bodybuilding. Being young, timid and very impressionable I wanted to impress my boyfriend by proving my commitment to the sport that he was so interested in (but mostly I just wanted him to like me) so I started weight training regularly. Training quickly filled the empty void that was left in my life after leaving dancing behind and I soon found myself completely infatuated it. I loved being in control of my body and shaping it how I wanted, I loved the endorphin rush after a good session and I loved the confidence I gained.

Now at almost 28 my love affair with the gym is stronger then ever! Everyday I learn something new and I love to share my insights and new knowledge.

A little bit about me

Hi everyone! Thank you for checking out my new blog!

A little bit about me for starters:

As some of you may already have guessed I am an IFBB Bikini Pro competitor. IFBB stands for International Federation of Body Building and Fitness. A new division was added a few years back called the "Bikini" division which is basically a more natural and feminin division of the sport. I won my Pro Card (professional status) at the CBBF Canadian Nationals in July 2011 and am now eligible to compete anywhere in the world against other IFBB Pro Bikini competitors.

On this blog I would like to share with you my journey, my up's and downs, my triumphs and set backs; basically what it's like to be me! I hope you'll join me!
